To, Steve Jobs. One who taught us to stay ‘Insanely focussed on Customer Experience’

Remembering Steve Jobs on his fourth death anniversary, we at Customer Guru would like to share some of his thoughts that has both inspired us and propelled us to stay focussed on delivering exceptional customer experience. I am personally a huge fan of Steve Jobs, and I frequently flip through his biography looking for motivation to keep moving forward in life. A person like him is rare to find, and someone who has had such a profound impact on humanity, is even rarer. Along with the legacy of Apple, Steve Jobs left behind pearls of wisdom on customer experience that are a constant source of inspiration, here they are:

Quality is much better than quantity. One home run is much better than two doubles.

If you focus on quality and deliver the best customer experience, you’ll hit home run every time!


Get closer than ever to your customers. So close that you tell them what they need well before they realise it themselves.

So many businesses get so engrossed with running the business that they forget the sole reason why they are in business. If there is one ethos that every business should adopt, it should be this – stay close to your customers.

Our DNA is as a consumer company – for that individual customer who’s voting thumbs up or thumbs down. That’s who we think about. And we think that our job is to take responsibility for the complete user experience. And if it’s not up to par, it’s our fault, plain and simply.

Viewing every customer as an individual and paying attention to that individual’s needs and experiences, that’s how Jobs built Apple – one of the most successful companies in the world! Taking responsibility of each and every customer’s experience will also help you leap ahead of your competition.

A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.

This one is a true gem. If your organisation is focussed on delivering great customer experience then, no matter the economic cycle, customers will buy from you.
